Real Beauty Rani Mukharjee~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Rani Mukherjee

"When I did Ghulam (with Aamir) and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (with Shah Rukh), I was treated like a child. Both of them were very protective towards me. I will always be thankful to them. They played a very important role in shaping my career... Black will always be special to me. I can't expect every film to have a character like Michelle. For me, it's important to have a different character in every film. And I give 100 percent to all my characters, regardless of whether they are light or serious", -

1996 Raja Ki Ayegi Barat

Rani's first debut film In Hindi..........................
Starring:Shadaab Khan, Rani Mukherjee
Rani Mukherjee

Rani Mukherjee made her debut in Bollywood with a best-forgotten film called Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat. With no family backing to launch her, this spirited young girl dared to dream, dared to try and get a foothold into Bollywood. She does however happen to be Kajol's cousin. Vikram Bhatts's Ghulam with Aamir Khan brought her the recognition she craved for. Khandala, a small hill station few kilometer's drive away from Mumbai, suddenly became the hotspot of the entire country. Reason - Aamir Khan coaxing Rani Mukherjee to accompany him there. The song Aati Kya Khandala suddenly caught the nation's fancy and Rani received rave reviews.

This was followed by Mehndi which did not fare very well at the box office. However, Rani again found herself in the thick of things with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. This Karan Johar directed movie starring Kajol, Shahrukh Khan and Rani was a romantic venture where Rani had a small role in Kajol and Shahrukh's flash back life. But Rani put substance in her role and won everyone's heart. Her presence was felt through out the movie and she walked away with the Best Supporting Actress Filmfare award.

They slowly unfold the story of the lives of three college-mates, Tina, Rahul (Shahrukh Khan) and Anjali (Kajol). The eighth letter, though, reveals to her that it was her duty to bring Rahul & Anjali together, who were the best of buddies. Rahul did seem to have feelings for Anjali, but she, being a tom-boyish character, could never show her feelings to him clearly. Rahul, though, soon fell for Tina - the principal's daughter who arrived from London - least realising Anjali's fate.

At this point, Anjali realised just how much she loved Rahul. Tina had always been suspicious about this love, but could not be sure of it. Anjali, the heart-broken lover, decided to move far away from Tina and Rahul's lives during her exams, trying to make her feelings for Rahul latent. Though she tried her best, she could not hide her deep and endless love for Rahul from Tina, who was sure of this by the time Anjali was at the train station, leaving them for ever.

Anjali Jr. is extremely touched by this love story, and decides to get the two together. Soon, with the help of her Nana (Anupam Kher) and Dadi (Farida Jalal), the obedient and lovable daughter of Rahul gets the separated best friends to meet. After about a decade, Rahul and Anjali Senior see each other, too much in state of shock to be able to even speak to each other. Soon, their love for each-other arises once again.

After they are re-united, however, a new problem arises. Now Anjali Sr. (although she still loves Rahul) has been engaged to Aman (Salman Khan). What happens thereafter? Well, just watch the movie!

In fact, it might not even fall into the Romance genre at all. Although Salman is casting against Preeti and Rani, there is no real love triangle story here.
In the film Raj (Salman) and Priya (Rani) play a happily married couple. Their conjugal bliss, however, is broken as it dawns on them that Priya is barren and cannot conceive their child. The problem further bloats as they realize that Raj's bounty of millions needs an inheritor.
Here Madhoo (Preity) steps in to rescue the duo from this quandary. Priya and Madhoo are best of friends and share strong vibes. Priya entreats her friend to bear her husband's baby. Deep inside Madhoo too is besotted by the brawny hunk, although she has never voiced her feeling.
Here begins the cobweb of emotions. While Madhoo succumbs to her friend's entreaties she cannot stop herself being drawn closer to Raj who on his part is torn between the two of them. And then there is Priya who plays an ideal wife and stoically swallows the growing proximity between her hubby and her friend.

2002 Mujhse Dosti Karoge

Starring : Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukherjee, Kareena Kapoor
Producer : Yash Chopra
Director : Kunal Kohli
Music : Rahul Sharma

Meet Raj (Hrithik Roshan), Pooja (Rani Mukherji) and Tina (Kareena Kapoor) - three best friends thrown into situations that time, letters, love and separation have created for them.

A friendship that starts off in the picturesque, hilly town of Shimla and ends or rather continues in London. Much like Raj, Pooja and Tina, traditional in their values, yet modern in their approach and outlook to life.

Friendship, the beginning of every relationship, ends in love. And love, well, it can only have two endings - a
happy and a sad one... or can there be a third ending for these three friends?

2002 Saathiya

Saathiya Director: Shaad Ali
Music: A R Rahman
Cast: Vivek Oberoi, Rani Mukherjee, Tanuja

Fresh, sweet and cute - that is precisely what Saathiya is. Shaad Ali's directorial debut has hit the jackpot with intense performances by both Vivek and Rani. What's more, the movie boasts of some of the best names in Indian Entertainment - Mani Ratnam, Gulzar, A R Rahman and Yash Chopra - a surefire combination for a superhit.

A remake of the Tamil blockbuster Alai Payuthai, Saathiya is about Aditya Sehgal and Suhani Sharma. She is a simple girl, intent on getting her MBBS degree and believes that love is people who have no better work. But then she meets Aditya, who sweeps her off her feet with his charming smile and a promise of love forever. When parents disapprove, they run away and get married.

Saathiya

Gradually life catches up with them and it's no more just a waltz. Ego hassles, work pressures, families and friends enter the picture. And one day, Suhani goes missing. Aditya searches for her everywhere, but can't find her. Where is she? What has happened? Will their love emerge the winner in the end or will it be too late?

While the story might have been told more times than one can count, what is refreshing is the way it has been handled. The small tiffs, the insecurities, the family's attitude, work pressures - all of these are portrayed such that anyone can identify with it. And the characters of Aditya and Suhani are themselves very ordinary... it could be a story about your guy or girl next door.

With Saathiya, it can safely be said that Rani has matured as an actress. Her transformation from a girl in love to a stressed-out wife is beautiful. Vivek has proven that he is more than just the action man. He carries off the sensitive role of Aditya very well. Enacting a role that is in sharp contrast to his first two films, he comes up with a great performance, which is sure to multiply his fan following. Among the other actors, Shah Rukh's and Tabu's brief appearance really adds to the charm of the film.

Saathiya

The one main winner in the movie will be the music. Most of the songs are taken from the Tamil original. Particularly catchy are the title song (Sonu Nigam), O Humdum (Kay Kay, Shaan) and Aye Udi Udi (Adnan Sami). As usual, A R Rahman's music is a chartbuster.

The cinematography is wonderful. Dialogues are well worded and some of them do register an impact.

On the whole, Saathiya is a romantic fare that will especially appeal to the younger college-going crowd. But is a must watch for Rani's fans.

Director : Kirti Kumar
Music : Uttam Singh
Lyrics : Anand Bakshi
Release : April 26, 2002

This romance film features an age-old story of the romancer Sunder (Govinda) trying to be something that he isn’t so that he can acquire his one true love Payal (Rani Mukherji). Only this time Sunder is pretending to be a deaf person in hopes to acquire empathy from the teacher of the deaf, Payal. The film in essence is a romance story, a genre that has officially become a no-no in the industry unless directors plan to make it worth our while. Sunder is a painter who tries his best to make himself successful and make himself known, quiet at heart; he is chummy amongst his friends. His chumminess soon leaves him with a broken leg and an even more silent heart. He soon tries to make himself happier by trying to woo the teacher of the deaf Payal.

Thanks to a series of misunderstanding, those that aren’t properly rectified, Payal believes Sunder is deaf and thus takes the task of teaching him. Sunder gladly goes along since he believes that this is the only way that Payal will give him a chance. Payal fooled by his excellent acting, tries her best to help him regain his speech. Her journey through learning the truth and Sunder’s journey through finally telling her the truth describes the rest of the film. Trust me, the ending is anything but pleasingly romantic, surprising, or worth your time.

Hum Tum is the story of two people who are repeatedly brought together by destiny. Yet the two fail to heed the call of destiny and keep on meeting and separating over a period of a good number of years before realizing that they are perhaps destined for each other.

After his forgettable directorial debut in Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Kunal Kohli returns with the promise of wholesome entertainment in Hum Tum

The film tells the story of a cartoonist Karan Kapoor (Saif Ali Khan), who works for one of India's leading newspapers. His cartoon strip, titled 'Hum Tum', revolves around two characters - one male and another female.

The fictitious cartoon strip turns into reality for Karan himself in an uncanny way after he meets Rhea (Rani Mukerjee) for the first time in Amsterdam. The two are simultaneously attracted and repulsed by each other. Their opinions fail to match and they disagree on almost anything. But there is still an unseen thread that binds the two together at subliminal level. Karan involuntarily kisses Rhea during one of their talks with the result that their meeting ends on a sour note.

Six months pass and their paths cross again in New York. By this time the two had comfortably forgotten about each other. But, seeing Karan with his girlfriend, Rhea decides to make him pay for the Amsterdam kiss and tells Karan's girlfriend about the incident, thereby leading to a break off between the two.

Vikram Batra ( Abhishek Bachchan ) of J&K Rifles, a golden-hearted man with an iron will. Capt Vikram is a true leader who infuses in his men the fiery passion to fight the enemy to the very end.

There is Lt. Manoj Pandey ( Ajay Devgan ) who believes that ‘some goals are so worthy it is glorious even to fail’.

There

is Lt. Balwaan Singh ( Akshaye Khanna ) the tough jaat from Haryana. He is a man of few words and doesn’t flinch in looking his enemy straight in the eye.

Lt. Col Y. K Joshi ( Sanjay Dutt ) aka Y K Joe is a senior officer who doesn’t believe in just giving orders to his juniors but rather leads them standing first in the line of fire.

There is young Capt. Anuj Nayyar ( Saif Ali Khan ), a man who has promised his lover ( Kareena Kapoor ) that he will return from the battlefield to reunite with her. He is a brave man who sacrifices his life laughing in the face of death even though his promise to his beloved remains unfulfilled.

There is the hardy rifleman Sanjay Kumar ( Sunil Shetty ) who is inseparable from his guns and has the capacity to bump off many before even sustaining a scratch.

Another tough man in the battalion is Grenadier Yogender Singh Yadav ( Manoj Bajpai ) whose real strength lies inside his mind and soul rather than in his body. He is the man who takes 15 bullets in his flesh and bone and still survives the battle.

There is Major Deepak Rampal ( Sanjay Kapoor ) who was on the leave but rushed to the battlefield to join his soldier friends.

So the onus to fight the enemy falls on the shoulders of these men and their colleagues (played by Bikram Saluja , Ashutosh Rana , Nagarjuna and others).

The enemy is strong and has the advantage of being on the mountain peaks. But the determination of these men is no less strong. Their valor and their love for their country is much higher than the mountains where their enemy is perched.

Starring : Aamir Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Amisha Patel, Toby Stephens, Coral Beed
Producer : Bobby Bedi
Director : Ketan Mehta
Music : A.R Rahman
Lyrics : Javed Akhtar
Release : 08/12/2005

Set against the backdrop of the Indian Mutiny of 1857, ‘The Rising’ tells the tale of a heroic sepoy who spearheaded the movement that later became the struggle for Indian freedom from the colonial British.

Through a colorful ensemble of characters, the movie tells the tale of friendship, love, betrayal and mutiny. It is the story of friends, lovers, enemies – story of exploiters and the exploited.

The protagonist of the film is sepoy Mangal Pandey (Aamir) who saves the life of a British commanding officer William Gordon (Toby Stephens) in a fierce battle in the Afghan wars of the mid 19th century. Despite the difference in their rank, Mangal and Gordon become good friends.

Their friendship is tested with the arrival of a charming and beautiful young aristocrat, Emily Kent. In the meantime, Gordon saves a beautiful young native girl, Jwala (Amisha), from the funeral pyre of her late husband, and falls in love with her.

Differences arise between Mangal Pandey and Gordon when the controversial new gun cartridges are introduced in the infantry of which Mangal is a part. The new cartridges require soldiers to bite through their greased casing, made of animal fat. And the Indian soldiers in the infantry refuse to use them.

Gordon assures Pandey that the cartridges have no animal fat, but the truth turns out to be the opposite.

Mangal Pandey leads a mutiny against the British, thereby setting off a wave for India’s freedom from its imperialist rulers.
